Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory seeks a dynamic software engineer to build and deploy scalable software for mission-critical needs. You will engage with end users to refine requirements, lead design reviews, and deploy at customer sites, contributing across the full development lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in multiple languages, front-end/back-end experience, and a strong fundamentals background.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, or Java.
• Front-end and back-end web development experience.
• Experience designing and integrating with secure web APIs.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Interest in leading software development and mentoring.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Familiar with GitLab, Jira, and VS Code.
• Team-oriented with strong communication and testing mindset.
• Willing to travel within the US and obtain security clearances.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy software solutions at scale.
• Collaborate with users to gather requirements and feedback.
• Participate in design reviews, documentation, and testing.
• Prepare and execute software deployments at customer sites.
• Work with developers, system engineers, and sponsors to meet needs.
