Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Morton, IL is seeking a Supply Chain Planning Engineer to lead cross-functional projects and drive measurable improvements across the aftermarket and manufacturing network.

You will define scope, develop plans, coordinate internal teams and suppliers, assess ROI, and manage risks to deliver cost-effective, high-impact supply chain solutions. This onsite role supports domestic and limited international travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end supply chain projects and improvement initiatives, establishing project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, roles, and success measures.
• Develop and manage project plans, tracking key activities, dependencies, risks, decisions, and progress through implementation and project closeout.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders across internal functions, business partners, and suppliers to drive alignment, resolve issues, and ensure successful execution.
• Identify and prioritize project opportunities using business needs, data analysis, performance metrics, industry benchmarks, and expected business value.
• Develop business cases and evaluate ROI to support project prioritization, investment decisions, and resource allocation.
• Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating barriers and facilitating decisions to maintain progress against project objectives.
• Lead implementation and change activities associated with new processes, capabilities, and integrated supply chain solutions.
• Establish project governance and communication routines, providing clear updates on project status, milestones, risks, decisions, and expected outcomes to stakeholders and leadership.
• Measure and validate project outcomes against defined KPIs, including supply chain performance, inventory utilization, cost effectiveness, and business-process improvements.
• Capture lessons learned and establish sustainable practices to ensure improvements are embedded and can be replicated across additional suppliers, product groups, or business areas.
• Develop and analyze data and information to identify and prioritize opportunities for improving performance and creating more cost-effective supply chains, inventory utilization, and business partnerships.
