Job summary

Grainger is seeking an Associate Supplier Manager to manage a portfolio of suppliers, negotiate costs and contract terms, and ensure performance and supply continuity. This hybrid role is based in Lake Forest or Chicago and reports to the Senior Manager, Supplier Management.

You will lead supplier discussions, translate strategic goals into actionable tactics using analytics, and balance competing priorities to deliver value for Grainger and its customers in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree BS/BA or equivalent required.
• 3+ years experience in related field required.
• Experience translating strategic goals into actionable tactics using analytics.
• Experience prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
• Adaptability to new processes and understanding product specifications.

Responsibilities

• Support development of procurement strategies aligned with Grainger’s goals.
• Analyze supplier landscapes, cost drivers and procurement challenges.
• Identify potential sources of supply meeting customer needs and cost targets.
• Manage relationships with a portfolio of small to mid-sized suppliers and lead negotiations.
• Build relationships with suppliers and address operational issues with internal teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support category strategies and improve efficiency.
• Organize meetings, supplier visits and trade show participation for engagement.
