Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Coordinator of Special Education (COSE) to lead program development and ensure compliance across school sites. The COSE will collaborate with principals, OSE, and families to ensure FAPE and LRE, and to supervise IEP processes.

The role emphasizes high expectations, data-driven planning, professional development for staff, and effective coordination with outside agencies to support students with disabilities and at-risk learners.

Qualifications

• Requires valid MA DESE Teaching License in Special Education and knowledge of IDEA, DESE regulations and Section 504.
• Experience with IEP development, annual reviews, and 504 plans.
• Ability to collaborate with principals, families, and outside agencies to ensure FAPE and LRE.

Responsibilities

• Lead referrals and chair all IEPs, reevaluations, and eligibility meetings.
• Coordinate continuum of services for students with disabilities and at-risk learners.
• Support professional development for special education staff and related service providers.
