Job summary

NYC Public Schools is seeking a Borough Director of Space Planning to lead policy development and strategic planning for optimizing space use across city schools. You will oversee structural changes, analyze impacts on communities, and drive reductions in overutilization to support 21st century learning.

Qualifications

• Minimum: a Baccalaureate degree in public administration, business administration, education administration, personnel administration, management or a related field with at least 18 months in administrative/managerial capacity.
• Experience in a management and communications role within a large organization is preferred.
• Ability to prepare written reports and present clearly and concisely; strong policy implementation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages development and review of Educational Impact Statements for significant changes to school utilization.
• Manages relationships with Community Education Councils, district planning committees, and stakeholders.
• Serves as spokesperson for NYCPS on space planning matters.
• Oversees charter school siting and implementation under the new charter amendment.
• Oversees community engagement around planning initiatives.
• Collaborates with Enrollment and other offices to ensure demand for new schools.
