Job summary

New York City Department of Parks & Recreation seeks a Community Coordinator to manage open space planning projects and coordinate with Parks divisions, agencies and community partners. You will perform due diligence, analyze planning opportunities, and present recommendations to boards and elected officials.

The role emphasizes coordination, strategic planning, and documentation of environmental and land-use studies, with residency requirements per city policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or higher plus two years in community work or equivalent.
• Experience with ULURP, park alienation and CEQR processes preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills."

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of open space planning projects and related initiatives for Planning & Neighborhood Development.
• Perform due diligence to support acquisitions and enhanced recreation amenities.
• Present proposals to Parks Boards, community groups and elected officials.
