Job summary

BNSF Railway is seeking a Summer Intern in the Strategic Sourcing Department based in Fort Worth, TX. This full‑time internship offers exposure to procurement strategies, vendor management, negotiation, and cost‑saving projects, with potential to transition to full-time management trainee roles after graduation.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in SCM, Business, Finance, or Economics, and have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire.
• Does not require BNSF’s sponsorship to obtain or maintain employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN status).
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Economics OR a similar degree program from an accredited university.
• Have and will maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
• Have LESS THAN three (3) years of professional work experience, excluding internships or part‑time roles.

Responsibilities

• Interact with internal customers and suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery of ad hoc/non‑catalog procurement requests.
• Perform necessary systematic corrective action on issues related to supplier purchase orders or contract non‑compliance.
• Support service and material buyers with ad hoc reporting and special project assistance.
• Maintain contract management in the execution of accurate and timely agreements.
• Possess leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and resilience to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
• Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.
