Job summary

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is seeking a Senior Buyer to lead the most complex procurements, shape policy, and mentor a team of buyers. This exempt role requires strategic vision, strong negotiation skills, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure compliant, high-value acquisitions.

Responsibilities include lifecycle management, complex terms negotiation, and advisory support to departments and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible procurement experience, including complex/high-value procurements.
• Experience in state/local procurement and higher education is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement strategy and execution for complex high-value acquisitions.
• Prepare and manage purchase orders, change orders, contract lifecycle tracking.
• Negotiate complex terms, pricing, and risk allocations with vendors and legal counsel.
• Provide guidance on procurement regulations and policies to departments.
• Lead cross-functional sourcing teams and strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Manage strategic vendor relationships and contract renewals.
• Present procurement analyses and audit responses to senior leadership.
