Job summary

The City of Indianapolis and Marion County seeks an Occupational Safety Manager to coordinate safety policy, manage targeted training, and track OSHA incidents across the enterprise. This role serves as the primary knowledge source for OSHA rules and injury prevention, with authority to implement policy to mitigate hazards related to OSHA claims.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30-hour Certification in General Industry with five years of safety management experience.
• OSHA 501 and OSHA 511 Certifications.
• Experience working with Third Party Administrators of Workers' Compensation Claims.
• Ability to mitigate hazards and maintain positive relationships with impacted workforce.
• Must communicate effectively with leadership and staff.

Responsibilities

• Manages and implements the enterprise’s safety policy and audits the actions of departments and agencies.
• Provides annual reporting to BLS and builds OSHA 300/301 logs.
• Leads injury prevention and implements training, PPE, near-miss investigations, and OSHA reporting.
• Mitigates OSHA-related claims and implements findings.
• Coordinates with risk teams and insurers for inspections and risk assessments.
• Trains staff on OSHA 10/30-hour General Industry and Defensive Driving as core sessions.
• Maintains confidentiality at all times.
