Job summary

SEIU is seeking an experienced Program Manager, Research & Strategy, in the Racial Justice Center to deepen understanding of racial histories, economic conditions, and policies shaping SEIU members’ industries. The Senior Coordinator will lead race-class analyses and connect findings to campaigns and organizational strategy.

The role involves producing reports, briefing materials, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to drive worker power and equity.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of experience conducting applied research related to racial justice, economic justice, labor, or comparable fields.
• Experience advancing racial or economic justice in a union, worker organization, or policy setting.
• Demonstrated experience conducting historical, sector, policy, economic, qualitative, or quantitative research and connecting findings to strategy or decision-making.
• Deep knowledge of racial and economic justice theory and practice, including race-class analysis.
• Working knowledge of labor, unions, worker organizations, or worker-led campaigns; direct union experience preferred.
• Strong analytical judgment and the ability to develop clear, well-supported conclusions from complex data.

Responsibilities

• Lead applied research into sectors and industries SEIU operates in, focusing on racial history and economic conditions.
• Analyze laws, policies, economic systems, institutional practices, and industry trends affecting racial exclusion and wealth gaps.
• Develop race-class analysis linking historical and current conditions to campaigns and organizational priorities.
• Research emerging racial- and economic-justice issues affecting SEIU members and communities.
• Examine barriers and opportunities for cross-racial solidarity and worker organizing across geographies.
• Produce research reports, sector analyses, briefings, and presentations communicating findings clearly.
