Job summary

SEIU (Service Employees International Union) seeks a Senior Campaign Communications Specialist for Worker Power to develop communications plans and materials across organizing, mobilization, bargaining, and campaigns. The role may lead local communications staff and coordinate PR, media relations, and campaign support.

Part of the Narrative & Engagement Worker Power team, the role ensures cohesive messaging to drive membership growth and expand SEIU's presence across sectors and geographies.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in media relations, digital communications, public affairs, or campaign communications.
• Knowledge of digital and print media systems; advertising techniques preferred.
• Knowledge of organizing and political campaign strategies preferred.
• Ability to perform proactive media outreach and generate positive media coverage.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with stakeholders including elected leaders.

Responsibilities

• Provides strategy recommendations to improve SEIU's public image and visibility.
• Develops and directs communications strategies for campaigns within the International and locals.
• Writes op-eds, background pieces, press kits, and other collateral as needed.
• Assists locals and teams in developing campaigns' communications strategies.
• Writes talking points, letters to the editor, and media outreach materials.
• Monitors media coverage and advises on improving outreach and coverage.
