Job summary

SEIU (Service Employees International Union) seeks a Program Manager, Research & Strategy for the Racial Justice Center. The role focuses on leading race-class, historical, sector, and emerging-issues research and translating findings into strategic guidance for campaigns and organizational priorities.

The position reports to the Director, RJC and involves collaborating with staff, locals, scholars, and external partners to develop evidence-based recommendations and communicate complex findings

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of experience conducting applied research related to racial justice, economic justice, labor, public policy, industry conditions, social movements, or comparable subject matter.
• Experience advancing racial or economic justice in a union, worker organization, movement organization, research institution, policy organization, or comparable setting.
• Demonstrated experience conducting historical, sector, industry, policy, economic, qualitative, or quantitative research and connecting findings to strategy.
• Deep knowledge of racial and economic justice theory and practice, with ability to apply race-class analysis to institutions, industries, policies, and worker experiences.
• Strong analytical judgment and the ability to develop clear, well-supported conclusions from complex information.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for substantive research products.
• Ability to manage multiple research projects and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead applied research into SEIU sectors with focus on racial history and labor structures.
• Analyze laws, policies, and industry trends affecting racial exclusion and wealth gaps.
• Develop race-class analyses linking historical conditions to campaigns and priorities.
• Research emerging racial- and economic-justice issues affecting members and communities.
• Examine barriers to cross-racial solidarity and worker organization across geographies.
• Produce research reports, sector analyses, briefing materials, presentations, and other products.
• Frame research questions with Director, RJC, and develop evidence-based recommendations for campaigns.
• Collaborate with SEIU departments, locals, and campaign teams to apply race-class analysis.
• Build relationships with scholars and external partners to deepen analytical depth.
