Job summary

Harris County's Office of the County Engineer seeks a Real Property Director to lead, analyze, and negotiate complex acquisitions, dispositions, and leases for county projects across the Houston area.

The role directs compliance, due diligence, appraisals, and documentation; builds a high-performing team; and collaborates with engineers, legal, and external partners to advance infrastructure and capital improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Real Estate, or another relevant field.
• Ten years of progressively responsible real estate transactions or related projects.
• Five years of supervisory/leadership experience in public or private real estate.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of acquisition, disposition, and management programs.
• Direct compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements for real estate transactions.
• Oversee negotiations, purchases, sales, and leases; approve key terms and conditions.
• Serve as liaison with officials, departments, owners, developers, counsel, and external agencies.
• Guide due diligence, appraisals, title reviews, and valuation processes.
