Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a senior procurement professional to manage daily material, parts, and service purchasing operations in San Diego. You will lead buyers and subcontract administrators, review and approve POs and subcontracts, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

The role emphasizes coordinating with engineering and manufacturing, driving cost, schedule, and performance, and mentoring staff. Travel may be required to satisfy project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration or related discipline with 9+ years of experience interpreting, awarding and administering contractual agreements.
• Extensive knowledge of FAR, FAR supplements and UCC; contract construction and purchasing.
• Ability to coordinate inter‑organizational activities and develop creative purchasing solutions.
• docs, investigate, advise, interpret and explain complex issues to internal staff and external customers and suppliers.
• Experience negotiating major complex purchases and subcontracts; understanding materials requirements planning.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve purchase orders and agreements; negotiate and award PO and subcontracts on behalf of the company.
• Establish and monitor compliance with purchasing policies and procedures per regulations and contractual requirements.
• Assign tasks, review work, and provide direction to staff to meet timelines.
• Coordinate supplier quotes and proposals; analyze and negotiate pricing; contribute inputs to proposals/pricing.
• Support production schedules by assisting in planning activities and monitoring buys.
• Coordinate pre‑award surveys and supplier evaluations; participate in audits.
• Act as primary contact for purchasing activities; represent company with customers and suppliers.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information; ensure compliance with laws and safety practices.
