Job summary

Thompson Pipe Group – Pressure in Grand Prairie, TX is seeking a Buyer to support high-volume procurement for engineered concrete, steel, and FRP pressure pipe products. You will read engineering drawings, evaluate materials, and negotiate with suppliers to keep production on schedule and within cost targets.

Responsibilities include sourcing materials, onboarding suppliers, managing vendor relationships, and coordinating with Engineering, Operations, and Project Management to resolve shortages

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and standards (AWWA/ASTM/ANSI) for pipe materials.
• Experience negotiating pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers.
• Proven ability to manage and develop vendor relationships and drive cost savings.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and project documentation to determine purchasing requirements.
• Source, qualify, onboard raw materials and outsourced components; manage supplier base.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times to support project schedules and margin targets.
• Build and manage vendor relationships; conduct periodic performance reviews and resolve disputes.
• Support high-volume project purchasing across multiple facilities; coordinate with Production and Engineering.
• Track requirements and shortages using the ERP system and Purchasing Tracker; resolve discrepancies.
