Job summary

Thompson Pipe Group is seeking an experienced Estimator to support bidding for steel and concrete pressure pipe projects. You will work closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing Operations and Project Management to develop accurate manufacturing cost estimates and competitive bids.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and bid documents, estimating materials, labor, equipment, outside services, and freight, identifying risks, and applying cost data to improve accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• 10+ years in estimating, engineering, PM, manufacturing, or related technical experience in pressure pipe or closely related industries.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Ability to identify project risks and account for them in estimates.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for steel and concrete pressure pipe, fittings, and fabricated components.
• Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements.
• Develop estimates for materials, labor, equipment, outside services, freight, and special requirements.
• Identify missing scope, conflicts, risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to ensure accurate estimates.
