Clayton Services in North Houston is seeking a Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement operations, manage inventory strategy across multiple locations, and lead a team to ensure product availability aligns with business demand.

The role focuses on developing strategic procurement plans, building strong vendor relationships, and using ERP systems to optimize stock and profitability while collaborating with sales, operations, and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
• Minimum of 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or inventory management experience
• Experience within HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or wholesale distribution strongly preferred
• Prior experience managing purchasing for multiple locations required
• Experience with ERP systems (Eclipse or similar) preferred
• Proven experience leading and developing teams

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily purchasing and inventory operations across multiple branch locations
• Develop and execute procurement strategies that support company growth and service goals
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, including negotiating pricing, terms, and rebates
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory
• Forecast seasonal demand and adjust purchasing plans accordingly
• Partner with sales, operations, and leadership to align inventory with customer needs
• Analyze purchasing data, product performance, and margin opportunities to improve profitability
• Manage backorders, vendor lead times, and supply chain disruptions
• Oversee purchase order processes, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment
• Utilize ERP systems to track inventory, maintain data integrity, and support decision-making
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of purchasing professionals
