Job summary

Clayton Manufacturing is seeking an Assistant Materials Manager to oversee purchasing, demand and supply planning, and ERP purchasing. The role supports production teams to prevent shortages and strengthen vendor relationships.

Key duties include PO creation, maintaining stock levels, and coordinating with suppliers and the production floor to meet schedules. Strong communication and ERP skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in purchasing or materials planning.
• Experience with ERP/Oracle systems in manufacturing preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with supervisors and coworkers.
• Good project management and follow-up skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, create, and expedite purchase orders as required.
• Maintain stock levels and assist in achieving inventory goals.
• Analyze sales order releases for capacity planning and material requirements.
• Manage inventory, schedules, and material availability to meet production plans.
• Coordinate with production floor, purchasing, and supervisors on materials status.
• Perform continuous inventory reviews and verify against ERP.
• Follow up on past-due orders with suppliers weekly.
• Assist in cost savings initiatives and supplier performance feedback.
