Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a Purchasing Manager for Riverville Paper Mill in Gladstone, VA. You will direct Purchasing and Stores, drive procurement strategy, and lead supplier negotiations to support continuous production in a heavy industrial setting.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing purchasing, a related Bachelor’s degree, and strong negotiation and project management skills. Relocation not stated; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, materials management, supply chain management, business administration, procurement, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a heavy industrial and/or manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 7 years of purchasing experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AS400, and purchasing software.
• Strong negotiation, project management, and vendor analysis skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to travel as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement and inventory management functions with short- and long-term strategies.
• Ensure procurement of primary commodities and supply items to maintain production.
• Lead negotiations on contracts and capital purchases.
• Establish and negotiate contract terms and maintain supplier relationships.
• Oversee mill’s leasing program with Corporate Procurement and engineering.
• Coordinate with Mill Energy Engineer on electricity and natural gas procurement.
• Run daily Purchasing Department operations and respond to internal requests.
• Support mill safety objectives through coaching and example.
• Identify cost savings via operational changes or local/ consolidated agreements.
• Ensure compliance with laws, ISO, SOX, FSC in Purchasing operations.
