Job summary

Allient Inc. in Oshkosh, WI is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead the site’s purchasing and material procurement to support production, inventory goals, cost control, quality, and on‑time delivery.

The role partners with Operations, Production, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and others to ensure material availability, develop supplier relationships, evaluate sourcing opportunities, support forecasting and inventory planning, and provide leadership to assigned staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Over 4 years up to 5 years in purchasing/procurement within manufacturing; supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; APICS certification is a plus.
• Broad knowledge of material procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and manufacturing practices.
• Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel/Word skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints; strong negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead purchasing, material procurement, inventory control, production scheduling, and related activities.
• Procure raw materials, components, and other materials to support operations.
• Monitor inventory levels and purchasing systems to meet production needs.
• Develop short- and long-range material forecasts and purchasing plans with multiple departments.
• Evaluate supplier relationships based on quality, cost, delivery, lead time, and service.
• Identify and qualify new or alternate suppliers with Quality and Engineering.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and other purchasing requirements.
• Coordinate subcontracted work, obtain quotations, and ensure schedule and quality.
• Support inventory management, including excess/obsolete inventory efforts.
• Participate in meetings and contribute to plans, policies, and improvement initiatives.
• Lead, train, and evaluate assigned employees; provide performance feedback.
