Job summary

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville seeks an Assistant Director of Purchasing to lead the purchasing function, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with procurement laws and policies. The role includes contracts management and oversight of high-value purchases for all SIUE departments.

The incumbent will guide major categories, conduct trainings on procedures, review purchase orders above bid limits, and contribute to procurement strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
• Masters degree may substitute for one year of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Director of Purchases, supervise and manage staff in purchasing.
• Ensure requirements of SIUE departments align with Illinois Procurement Code and Board of Trustees policies.
• Act as contracts manager for the department and review/purchase orders over the bid limit.
• Provide guidance for major purchase categories and complex bids.
• Develop and conduct trainings and seminars on purchasing procedures and regulations.
