Job summary

Associated Students at San Diego State University is seeking a Contracts & Procurement Assistant Director to oversee all purchasing activities, including contracts, RFPs and vendor management. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will supervise staff, ensure compliance with policies, and drive cost savings through strategic sourcing.

The role requires a four-year degree and at least four years of procurement leadership experience, preferably in higher education.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in a job-related field from an accredited college or university required
• Minimum of four years of experience overseeing contracting and procurement processes for complex organization
• Experience in Higher Education environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate purchasing of goods and services for a complex student-led organization
• Oversee purchase orders, RFPs, awards, and contract reviews
• Negotiate amendments, extensions, and change orders with suppliers
• Supervise the Contracts & Risk Management Coordinator and mentor staff
• Review cost projections and total cost of ownership analyses
• Develop and maintain procurement policies and online purchasing platforms
• Coordinate insurance requirements and oversee vendor certificates of insurance
• Maintain contract files and ensure renewals and compliance with policies
