Job summary

Associated Students, San Diego State University seeks a Contracts & Procurement Assistant Director to coordinate purchasing activities for a complex student-led organization. You will oversee purchase orders, RFPs, awards, and contract reviews, ensuring compliance and value.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will supervise staff, conduct analysis of total cost of ownership, and help develop procurement policies and training for stakeholders across campus.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree is required.
• Minimum of four years of experience overseeing contracting and procurement processes for a complex organization.
• Experience in Higher Education environment preferred.
• Must complete Anti-Harassment, Workplace Violence Prevention, Data Security & Privacy, and Gender Awareness trainings within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee purchase orders, RFPs, awards, and contract review processes.
• Liaise between suppliers and departments to ensure contract terms and grant requirements are met.
• Supervise Contracts & Risk Management Coordinator and provide direction and mentorship.
• Conduct total cost of ownership projections in collaboration with Finance Director.
• Develop and maintain procurement policies, delegations of authority, and online purchasing platforms.
• Coordinate insurance requirements for events and vendor agreements.
• Ensure contract file maintenance, renewals, and insurance certificates.
• Identify cost savings through spending analysis and bulk purchasing opportunities.
