Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to maintain strong vendor relationships, place inventory-based orders, and track shipments at our Irving, TX site.

You will support the purchasing manager with supplier research, contract review, and cost-saving initiatives while coordinating with warehouse teams and other departments. A minimum of two years in purchasing is expected, with strong negotiation and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate Degree or BSc in Logistics, Purchase and Supply, Business Administration or related fields is preferred.
• At least two years of experience in a purchasing position.
• In-depth knowledge of purchasing functions, inventory, and supply management systems.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to source and maintain vendor relationships.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; ability to use purchasing software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors or wholesalers and supervise vendor activities.
• Place orders for products based on current inventory needs and track shipments.
• Sign and review purchasing agreements; renegotiate contracts as needed.
• Run purchasing department with purchasing manager and perform vendor research to enhance profitability.
• Manage purchase orders, shipping schedules and purchase records; verify deliveries against orders.
