Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Purchasing Agent in Houston to execute quoting, procurement, and delivery with qualified suppliers. You will determine best-evaluated solutions, collaborate with accounting, and support project management to resolve issues promptly.

The role requires 3+ years in construction purchasing, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency with ERP systems, preferably COINS. A 2-year AA degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 year AA degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing practices, systems, and practices.
• Excellent negotiation and procurement skills.
• Strong time management and multi-project delivery capability.
• Attention to detail and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills material requisitions, procures and ensures competitive pricing and delivery.
• Partners with staff to streamline systems and resolve invoices for payment.
• Assists in bid document preparation and bidder list management.
• Coordinates with project managers to procure materials and resolve supplier issues.
• Coordinates bulk deliveries to meet deadlines.
• Prepares and manages purchase orders and follows up on past-due orders.
