Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Senior Purchasing Agent to manage procurement for active construction projects, coordinating with project teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to keep schedules and costs in check.

The role covers PO processing, supplier coordination, material tracking, and rental equipment procurement, leveraging COINS ERP and Excel to maintain pricing accuracy and timely deliveries across on-site sites.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED required.
• 5–7 years of experience in purchasing or customer service support.
• Experience with ERP software (COINS preferred).
• Strong time management, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with suppliers, project teams, and accounting.

Responsibilities

• On-site Construction - project purchasing and placing orders.
• Partners with suppliers to follow up on delivery dates, lead times, and back orders; inform team members of issues.
• Maintains supplier pricing and vendor information in the ERP system and purchasing spreadsheets (COINS preferred).
• Prepares invitations to bid and RFQs/RFPs for quotations from vendors; submits to vendors.
• Reviews project material requirements, BOMs, specs, and requisitions to coordinate materials with vendors.
• Processes material receivers and coordinates bulk deliveries to meet deadlines.
• Manages purchase orders from procurement through delivery; handles changes, returns, and credits.
• Researches market sources to locate cost-effective pricing.
• Identifies cost-saving opportunities and alternate suppliers/products.
• Negotiates pricing with vendors; discusses needs and approvals.
• Supports RFQs/RFPs and orders and tracks onsite rental equipment.
• Assists Project Managers with equipment purchases.
