Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Senior Purchasing Agent to manage materials, equipment, and services for active construction projects. You will coordinate with project teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective purchasing, while maintaining project schedules.

You will oversee POs, supplier coordination, material tracking, and rental equipment procurement using COINS ERP. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5-7 years in purchasing or customer service support.
• Experience with purchasing practices and systems preferred.
• Mechanical construction experience preferred but not required.
• Strong time management; multitask across projects.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Experience with Excel, databases, and ERP software (COINS preferred).
• Ability to work in a continuous improvement environment.

Responsibilities

• On-site project purchasing and placing orders.
• Coordinate with suppliers on delivery dates and back orders.
• Maintain supplier pricing and vendor info in COINS ERP.
• Prepare RFQs and bid invitations for vendors.
• Review material requirements and coordinate with vendors.
• Process material receivers and coordinate bulk deliveries.
• Manage POs from procurement to delivery, returns, credits.
• Research market sources for cost-effective pricing.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and supplier alternatives.
• Support RFQs/RFPs and onsite rental equipment.
