Job summary

Southland Industries in Houston seeks a Purchasing Agent to execute quoting, procurement, and delivery of specified products and services from qualified suppliers and subcontractors. You will determine the best evaluated solution for cost, quality, and delivery, aligning with company policies and national supply agreements.

You will coordinate requisitions, negotiate pricing, manage supplier relations, prepare bid packages, and drive on-time delivery while supporting accounts payable and project

Qualifications

• 2 year AA degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry preferred.
• Strong purchasing knowledge and negotiation skills.
• Experience with ERP software, preferably COINS.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills material requisitions from field staff and fabrication shop, procuring at a competitive price and ensuring on-time delivery.
• Collaborates with A/P and Project Management to resolve problem invoices promptly.
• Prepares bid documents and bidders lists, including inquiries and award recommendations.
• Coordinates with project managers and suppliers to procure goods and resolve supplier issues.
• Coordinates bulk deliveries of rough products to meet deadlines.
• Prepares and manages purchase orders and follows up on past-due orders.
