Job summary

Pasco County is seeking a Purchasing Agent I to execute technical procurements in line with established policies and procedures. You will manage purchasing activities across construction projects, equipment, services, and supplies for county departments.

The role requires knowledge of procurement practices, the ability to analyze purchasing problems, and experience with bid documents and compliance. A Bachelor’s or Associate degree with procurement experience is preferred; CPPB/CPPO desirable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of procurement practices in public or private sectors.
• Ability to exercise independent and impartial judgment and decisions.
• Ability to analyze purchasing problems and recommend solutions.
• Ability to interpret contractual language, especially construction contracts.
• Ability to prepare/review bid documents for compliance.

Responsibilities

• Writes, prepares and negotiates complex contracts with vendors and contractors.
• Monitors and evaluates vendor performance for contract compliance and law.
• Coordinates procurement of mainly construction projects and other needs for county departments.
• Reviews/bids for lowest responsive and responsible bidder; finalizes specifications for bid documents.
• Maintains contract documentation including bonding, insurance, licensing, etc.
