Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Purchaser to lead procurement plans, identify and screen suppliers, and negotiate terms to drive cost reductions and schedule adherence. The role includes mentoring procurement staff, directing procurement documents, and coordinating bid evaluations to ensure project success.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 7 years of purchasing or EPC procurement experience, with strong communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Construction, Law or related field is required.
• 7+ years direct purchasing experience, project procurement, project field procurement, materials management, or EPC procurement experience is required.
• Procurement, contract administration, and claims management experience is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and proven negotiation ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement plans and supplier qualification processes to reduce costs and meet project schedules.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to procurement staff and mentor less experienced purchasers.
• Direct preparation of procurement documents and agreements.
• Direct commercial bid evaluations of supplier proposals and coordinate technical evaluations.
• Lead in the proposal/selection process and facilitate pre-bid meetings.
• Oversee quality assurance/quality control activities in procurement.
