Job summary

Austincc is seeking a Public Health Advisor (Policy and Health Issues Management) to support CDC mission objectives by guiding strategic policy initiatives and coordinating legislative and regulatory efforts. The role involves advising leadership on planning, evaluation, and performance management within a federal public health context.

The position requires extensive knowledge of public health programs, legislative processes, and interagency coordination, with potential supervisory duties.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health.
• Knowledge of methods to develop and deliver public health programs in State and local settings.
• Knowledge of a specialized public health program.
• Knowledge of administrative or analytical methods in a public health context.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including reports and testimony.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-range strategic plans, organizational goals, and policy priorities to support CDC mission objectives.
• Advise on congressional, legislative, and regulatory matters; analyze legislation and prepare policy documents.
• Evaluate public health programs, identify improvements, and build partnerships with federal, state, local and external organizations.
• Advise senior leadership on complex public health and oversight issues; coordinate with HHS, Congress, OMB, and other stakeholders.
• Supervisory duties: potential to develop required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
