Job summary

Austincc is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to oversee a team analyzing public health surveillance data and administrative health data. You will provide expert guidance on data collection, processing, and analysis, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary professionals to deliver impactful insights.

The role emphasizes leading data science initiatives, applying machine learning and NLP methods, and communicating findings through comprehensive reports that inform public health decisions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or related field at least a bachelor’s level.
• Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major (30 semester hours) plus additional education or experience.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 in the Federal service with data science work and public health data systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as data science expert in analysis and classification of public health data; lead a team of data scientists.
• Consult with statisticians, data scientists, AI professionals and public health experts on collection, processing, mining, coding, classification and analysis of data.
• Prepare reports discussing data science methodology, data quality, methods, results and health relevance.
