Job summary

University at Buffalo seeks a Proposal Budget Specialist to develop and oversee accurate, compliant budgets for sponsored projects. You will support pre- and post-award budget creation and ensure adherence to sponsor guidelines.

Collaborate with Proposal & Project Managers, PIs, and administrative staff to streamline budgeting processes, maintain policy compliance, and provide guidance on budget creation and adjustment.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed budgets for sponsored proposals and ensure consistency.
• Interpret and apply budget guidelines according to university and sponsor policies.
• Act as a point of contact for budget inquiries from sponsors and internal teams.
• Collaborate with Proposal & Project Managers, PIs, and staff to guide budget creation and adjustments.
• Identify opportunities to streamline budgeting processes while maintaining compliance.
• Support pre- and post-award activities as needed.
