Job summary

The University at Buffalo is seeking a Finance Manager to support post-award financial management for a diverse funding portfolio. You will partner with Principal Investigators to manage sponsored awards, perform reconciliations, budgeting, and projections, and ensure timely salary changes and appointments.

This role requires strong financial analysis, communication skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams while adhering to sponsor and university policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field with 5 years of related experience
  • Strong financial analysis and communication skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse constituents in a respectful and professional manner
  • Knowledge and understanding of Excel and other database/electronic reporting tools
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (preferred)
  • Experience in research administration or post-award financial management (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Award planning with kick-off meetings
  • Formulate financial projections and revise award budgets
  • Analyze expenses to maximize funds and ensure compliance
  • Adhere to sponsor reporting guidelines
  • Create internal financial reports and review portfolios with faculty
  • Review and improve financial reporting processes and communication
  • Serve as liaison between PIs and administrative units
  • Collaborate with post-award staff to support funding goals
