Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Project Purchasing Buyer to coordinate sourcing of component parts and raw materials for finished assemblies. The role covers pre-sourcing through end-of-life winddown, working closely with engineering, program management, accounting, operations, and quality teams at our Walker, MI corporate office.

The candidate should have 1–3 years in purchasing, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of related purchasing experience in a similar industry.
• General purchasing knowledge with MS Office and ERP tools.
• Reliable in fulfilling obligations and meeting deadlines.
• Experience in sourcing, negotiations, engineering/design, and project management.
• Highly motivated with strong analysis, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and multi-task effectively.
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 quality requirements.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate procurement activities across multiple tasks.
• Contribute to RFQ processes for raw materials and production parts.
• Prepare commercial bid analyses and negotiate pricing/terms with suppliers.
• Support contract negotiations with legal and leadership teams.
• Issue Purchase Orders aligned with project schedules.
• Collaborate with engineering, program management, accounting, operations, and quality.
• Manage relationships with key suppliers throughout the program lifecycle.
• Evaluate cost data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
