Job summary

SMS group Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA seeks a Manager of Project Operations to lead the project portfolio with full P&L accountability and strategic automation initiatives. You will supervise Project Managers, oversee budgets, and drive data-enabled delivery across metallurgical plant systems.

You will apply SDLC governance, MES experience, and analytics tools to optimize performance, schedule, and risk management in a global project environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Metallurgy.
• At least five years of progressive experience in engineering or project management in industrial automation and digitalization, metals industry.
• Experience with metallurgical production lifecycles and preventive maintenance of steel melt shop assets.
• Familiarity with MES, production planning, and scheduling optimization.
• Knowledge of Level 2 automation, SDLC governance, and data analytics for portfolio KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Own full Profit and Loss accountability for the project portfolio.
• Direct financial auditing, cost-to-complete reporting, and budgets.
• Lead Project Managers including hiring, evaluations, and development roadmaps.
• Define portfolio guidelines and integrate advanced data analytics into project lifecycles.
• Negotiate with clients and vendors and manage critical project risks and compliance.
