Job summary

SMS group Inc. is seeking a Principal Process Power Engineer to develop and implement automation solutions for metals process power technology. You will analyze power systems, size transformers, and support project teams with technical issues.

Join a global leader in metals and work with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, drive system design, and mentor less experienced staff. Occasional site commissioning and travel are involved.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
Extensive experience in the metals industry or a similar industry.
Experience with automation, power and drive systems.
Strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites.
Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Analyze electrical loads and power usage to determine optimum performance windows.
Size transformers for AC and DC arc furnace applications.
Review power system requirements for drive feeders and protection.
Interface with project teams and customers to provide engineering solutions.
Perform limited site commissioning and training as required.
Support existing installed systems and troubleshoot with data analysis.
Develop and refine engineering techniques and procedures.
