Job summary

Fehr Graham is seeking a Financial Planning and Project Accounting Manager in Aurora, IL to lead our project accounting and financial analysis team, improve forecasting, and translate numbers into actionable guidance for project managers and leaders. This hands‑on role combines people leadership with process improvement, dashboards, and collaboration with the CFO to boost profitability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years in project accounting or FP&A with leadership.
• Experience in Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) or project-based environments preferred.
• Strong Excel and reporting skills (Power BI, Deltek).

Responsibilities

• Lead project accounting, project profitability reporting, budgeting and forecasting, dashboards and analytics.
• Direct and develop the project accounting and financial analysis team.
• Collaborate with project managers to understand results and determine next steps.
• Build and improve budgets, forecasts, profitability models and leadership reporting.
• Recommend improvements to financial planning, data quality and processes.
• Make decisions on methods, reporting approaches and process improvements within financial controls.
• Flag financial risks and forecast concerns to the CFO.
• Coordinate with the Controller on handoffs between project and general accounting.
