Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Project Director to join our Prime MEP division in Chicago. The role provides strategic leadership for large, complex projects, overseeing planning through completion and aligning with client expectations and financial objectives.

Responsibilities include managing project activities, defining team responsibilities, serving as the primary customer contact, and ensuring policy compliance and cross-department coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience required.
• 10–12 years of project management experience in construction.
• 5 years leading a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all project activities from initiation to closeout.
• Define project assignments for team members with clear responsibilities.
• Serve as primary point of contact with the customer during project implementation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Coordinate handoffs between internal departments and support preconstruction.
• Mitigate and report project risk; manage financial performance and reporting.
