Job summary

Kforce is seeking a Project Accounting Manager in Sterling, VA. You will oversee financial management for multiple projects, partnering with PMs and leaders to ensure accurate reporting, budgeting, forecasting, billing, revenue recognition, and policy compliance.

The role requires 5+ years in project accounting with ERP and Excel proficiency, strong analytical and communication skills, and leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• 5+ years of project accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Strong understanding of job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue recognition.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial performance of multiple projects from start to finish.
• Monitor budgets, costs, revenue, profitability, and cash flow.
• Provide variance analysis on project financial results.
• Oversee billing and ensure timely, accurate invoicing.
• Monitor accounts receivable and assist collections.
• Ensure revenue recognition and job-cost reporting accuracy.
• Prepare project-related journal entries and reconciliations.
• Support month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities.
• Collaborate with project managers to identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Review contracts and change orders for financial impact.
• Maintain internal controls and procedures.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Supervise and mentor project accounting staff.
