Job summary

Wellby Financial is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to serve as the Accounting Department's primary representative for enterprise projects, system implementations, and capital initiatives.

You will coordinate accounting support for projects, ensure GAAP compliance, and partner with business and technology teams to document processes and strengthen internal controls, supporting a smooth transition of projects into operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and internal controls.
• Experience supporting capital projects, system implementations, process improvements, or cross-functional initiatives affecting accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Experience working with accounting systems, ERP platforms, financial applications, system upgrades, or conversions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Credit union, banking, or other financial institution experience preferred.
• CPA, CMA, or project management certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary accounting liaison for enterprise projects and system implementations.
• Collaborate with business leaders and technology stakeholders to identify accounting requirements and internal controls.
• Provide guidance on financial reporting impacts and GAAP compliance for projects and initiatives.
• Coordinate capital project accounting, depreciation, and asset capitalization.
• Support month-end to year-end close for project accounting and fixed assets.
• Assist auditors with documentation for capital projects and asset accounting.
• Develop and maintain accounting procedures, training materials, and wiki documentation.
