Job summary

High Country Search Group seeks a Capital Projects of Fixed Assets Senior Accountant to transition into a Manager-level role, taking ownership of critical real estate development and construction accounting.

This individual contributor position focuses on capitalization, depreciation, month-end close, and reporting, collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting audits while pursuing process improvements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong experience with fixed assets, capital projects, construction, real estate development, or inventory accounting.
Strong month-end close, reconciliation, and financial reporting experience.
Solid understanding of GAAP, capitalization, depreciation, and cost accounting.
Experience with ERP systems such as Yardi, MRI, or similar platforms.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Manage accounting for capital assets and development projects, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and asset tracking.
Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and roll-forwards.
Track capital project spending, construction costs, purchases, refurbishment costs, and asset disposals.
Prepare capital spend, project, and fixed asset reporting.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company capitalization policies.
Maintain strong internal controls and accurate asset records.
Partner with Development, Operations, Finance, Tax, and other teams on project-related accounting.
Support internal and external audits.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, reconciliations, and automation.
