Job summary

Oilgear in Traverse City seeks a Production Planner to own the Master Production Schedule, balance demand with material availability, and optimize shop-floor capacity. You’ll work cross-functionally with Production, Purchasing, and Sales to maintain MRP integrity and minimize past-due backlogs.

You will determine sequencing, track CTB status, and set recovery priorities while ensuring on-time delivery and schedule adherence across the facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5+ years in scheduling, production planning, or materials coordination in manufacturing.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred).
• Strong Excel skills for calculations, tracking, and reporting.
• Ability to read and interpret BOMs, routings, and work instructions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the Master Production Schedule to optimize plant capacity while meeting delivery commitments.
• Determine backlog recovery priorities and action plans for past-due orders.
• Perform capacity planning across key work centers to level-load schedules.
• Evaluate ECNs for inventory and scheduling impact and set effective dates.
• Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, and Shop Floor for informed scheduling.
• Provide ATP delivery dates to Sales based on capacity and lead times.
• Communicate schedule risks to internal teams and leadership as needed.
• Maintain open communication with Production Manager and reflect changes in MRP.
• Participate in daily/weekly production control meetings and CI projects.
• Accountable for on-time delivery and backlog reduction.
