Job summary

AkzoNobel is seeking a Production Planner in the United States (Waukegan, IL) to coordinate production planning, scheduling, and inventory management across Supply Chain, Production, Logistics, and Procurement. The role drives continuous improvement and ensures safety compliance within a batch/chemical manufacturing environment.

The position requires a BS in a related field, 3+ years of production planning experience, strong cross-functional communication, and proficiency with SAP/ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• At least 3 years in production planning, supply chain, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
• Ability to interact across departments and improve processes.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel; experience with SAP or ERP software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate short-, medium-, and long-term production planning activities across departments and monitor KPIs.
• Create, release, and schedule process orders to support production and demand requirements.
• Communicate scheduling updates and production priorities across Supply Chain and Plant Operations.
• Monitor inventory levels and identify supply risks or constraints using ERP/MRP tools.
• Develop planning parameters in SAP according to demand and safety stock targets.
• Drive continuous improvement to optimize processes and delivery performance.
• Participate in root cause analysis of disruptions and support corrected actions.
• Support integrated business planning with demand analysis and inventory management.
