Job summary

NOV is seeking a Production Planning Specialist for our Cedar Park, Texas facility. You will partner with Production, Supply Chain and Order Fulfillment to optimize schedules, improve On Time Delivery, and support operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires a detail-oriented mindset, strong analytical skills, and hands-on ability to manage priorities on site, with experience in ERP/MRP systems and inventory controls, while adhering to HSE policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience in production planning or scheduling within a manufacturing environment.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with JD Edwards or a comparable ERP/MRP system (preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Knowledge of inventory management principles and supply-chain processes.
• Familiarity with HSE policies and commitment to compliance.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and material availability.
• Develop priorities and communicate support functions while taking an active role in problem resolution.
• Coordinate and monitor the flow of work through assembly and machining operations to ensure production schedules are achieved.
• Review, release, and manage work orders per system demand, ensuring dates meet organizational metrics.
• Periodically review non-conformances and engineering changes, reworking work orders as required.
• Approve, release, and monitor the status of production and purchase requisitions.
• Monitor manufacturing capacity and recommend actions to address potential bottlenecks or resource constraints.
• Collaborate with the Order Fulfillment team to communicate sales-order reschedules and level-loading activities.
• Monitor and regularly update safety stock levels in the system as needed.
• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
• Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
