Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. in Sugar Land, TX is seeking a Production Control Planner to manage daily manufacturing execution through planning, scheduling, and work-order coordination.

You will ensure material readiness and coordinate expedites with cross-functional teams to meet customer delivery requirements. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience with ERP/MRP systems, and the ability to communicate across Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and Shipping to keep

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of production control or related experience.
• Proficiency with Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, charts).
• Experience with ERP/MRP and production work-orders.
• Understanding how schedules, materials, and delivery impact production.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
• Clear written and verbal communication across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop production schedules from demand and internal requirements as capacity and materials change.
• Track work orders and adjust schedules to avoid delays and meet deliveries.
• Verify material availability with Material Control and address shortages.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to align schedules.
• Communicate status and risks to stakeholders and escalate when needed.
• Analyze production data and prepare reports on status, risks, and expedites.
