Job summary

Timberlyne Group seeks a proactive Buyer to manage purchasing, supplier negotiations, and inventory control in our Wayne, Nebraska operations. You will forecast material needs, issue purchase orders, and collaborate across departments to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in buying or procurement, strong negotiation, analytical thinking, and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures and ability to learn company's ERP software platform (Visual by Infor).
• Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook; basic computer hardware knowledge.
• Strong communications skills with the ability to interact at all organizational levels.
• Ability to maintain a cooperative, high-performance team environment and promote company culture.
• Strong negotiation and follow-up skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain current inventory and ensure stock levels are appropriate.
• Develop and enhance relationships with strategic suppliers/partners; act as primary contact.
• Prepare and implement negotiation tactics to purchase materials cost-effectively while maintaining quality.
• Approve and issue purchase orders per policies and negotiated terms.
• Handle correspondence about over-shipments, delivery issues, and changes in quantities/dates/prices.
• Coordinate purchase orders with the logistics department for delivery.
• Research new suppliers and establish preferred/vendor lists.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
