Job summary

Surplus Center seeks a Purchasing & Procurement Manager to lead sourcing, supplier relations, and inventory planning in Lincoln, NE. This in-person role oversees a team, negotiates contracts, and drives cost reductions while ensuring quality and availability of products for customers.

You will partner with Sales, Marketing, Inventory Control, Operations, and Executive Leadership to identify opportunities, develop new products, and improve purchasing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Admin, Operations, Finance, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum 5 years purchasing, procurement, or inventory management experience.
• Minimum 2 years leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience negotiating vendor contracts, pricing and supplier agreements.
• Experience with forecasting, inventory levels, and stocked inventory management.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; ERP/MRP experience including NetSuite.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with company goals and demand.
• Build and strengthen relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, freight terms, and payment terms.
• Source and evaluate new vendors and products to improve quality and profitability.
• Lead RFQ/RFP processes and supplier selections.
• Oversee inventory management and collaborate on forecasting and demand planning.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous purchasing improvements.
• Mentor and develop purchasing staff and promote cross-department collaboration.
