Job summary

Reworld Waste is seeking a Procurement Specialist to support plant operations in Bristol and Preston, CT, handling end-to-end procurement across materials and services. You will develop suppliers, negotiate terms, and manage contracts, while aligning with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering for reliable, cost-efficient, and environmentally responsible outcomes.

Qualifications

• At least three years of relevant experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing, supply chain, contract administration, supplier management, or industrial operations.
• Experience with strategic sourcing, supplier qualification and development, competitive bidding, and contract management.
• Experience evaluating labor hours and costs, and comparing supplier proposals with stakeholders.
• Proficiency with procurement platforms and Excel to analyze spend and bids.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives aligned with facility needs and corporate objectives.
• Identify, qualify, and develop new suppliers to expand sourcing options and continuity.
• Manage supplier qualification, onboarding, relationships, and performance.
• Lead RFI/RFP processes, bid evaluation, pricing analysis, and supplier selection.
• Coordinate bid reviews, supplier conferences, and facility walkthroughs.
• Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement while maintaining quality and safety.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and stakeholders to define scopes of work and requirements.
• Negotiate terms, coordinate contract review, and support awards.
• Monitor supplier performance and contract adherence; propose amendments as needed.
• Handle supplier disputes professionally and balance operational needs with costs.
• Process purchase orders, track deliveries, and expedite critical materials.
• Use procurement systems to manage supplier data, quotes, and orders.
• Leverage Excel (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP) to analyze spend and bids.
• Support budgeting, financial planning, and sourcing decisions with data.
• Assist in transferring maintenance parts across facilities to optimize inventory.
