Job summary

Targa Resources is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to provide technical procurement leadership for its Houston-based teams. You will guide the acquisition of goods and services, lead strategic sourcing, supplier qualification, and high-stakes negotiations while ensuring contract compliance and alignment with stakeholder objectives.

You will mentor staff, monitor supplier performance, and drive cost savings through process improvements in a fast-paced cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or 7+ years of procurement/supplier management experience.
• 7+ years' work experience in purchasing, materials management, contract management or a similar function.
• Experience in supplier or contractor management.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Oil & gas industry experience in supplier and contract negotiations.
• Detail-oriented, thorough, organized, and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as procurement advisor for assigned business units, ensuring goods and services meet stakeholder objectives and procurement best practices.
• Lead sourcing for strategic capital and expense purchases, including supplier qualification, bid solicitation, and supplier selection.
• Lead complex commercial negotiations with suppliers regarding pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
• Maintain knowledge of market conditions, supplier capabilities, and industry trends.
• Provide specialized knowledge to resolve procurement challenges and assess impacts across functions.
• Support P2P processes, including PO execution, invoice processing, and contract compliance.
• Perform expediting to meet delivery schedules and commitments.
• Support procurement KPIs and develop corrective actions as needed.
• Assist with cost savings, cost avoidance, and process improvements.
• Assist supplier audits and business reviews.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor procurement personnel on negotiations, systems, and best practices.
